The Story Behind Kindness Co-Tails™
Did you know a dog played a part in the story that inspired Kindness Worldwide, the nonprofit behind ROK?
ROK Co-Founder Kevin Smith experienced a moment of unexpected Kindness when he lost his wallet and a Good Samaritan, Brooke Dubs, went out of her way to return it. Grateful for her thoughtful gesture, Kevin wanted to find and thank the person behind the act.
Then, a Facebook profile picture of Brooke with her adorable dog helped Kevin identify her and connect with the Good Samaritan whose thoughtful act strengthened his faith in the goodness of humanity.
That small detail became part of a much bigger story. The encounter inspired Kevin to think about how a single act of Kindness could bring people together and encourage even more good in the world.
Later, a conversation about how pets act as social glue by bonding people and communities together helped spark the idea of Kindness Week Worldwide, which is now a global movement celebrating the power of Kindness.
What started with one lost wallet and one thoughtful act grew into something much bigger. And a dog helped connect the dots.
