The feed and cheers
In the app
Tap Feed, the first tab.
On the website
Select Feed in the top bar, or go to The Kindness Feed.
The feed shows the newest acts from across ROK. Use the category buttons above it to see one kind of act. Tap an act to open its own page, or a name to see that member's profile.
To cheer an act, tap the heart under it. Tap again to take your cheer back. Tap the number next to the heart to see Cheered by, the list of everyone who cheered.
Notifications
ROK lets you know when someone cheers or comments on your act, replies to or likes your comment, joins through you, or posts an act in your ripple. You'll also hear when you reach a new tier, and about your groups.
In the app
Tap the bell at the top of the feed, or More → Notifications.
On the website
Select the bell at the top of any page.
Mark all read clears the badge. To choose which kinds you get, open Account & settings (on the website, its Notifications tab), switch categories on or off, and select Save preferences.
The Kindness map
In the app
Signed in: tap More, then Kindness map. Not signed in: tap Map in the tab bar.
On the website
Select Map in the top bar (or the bottom bar on a phone), or go to the Kindness map. If you're not signed in, it's under Explore.
Every light is an act of kindness. Tap a light to see what someone did there, and open the act.
Good to know: Lights show approximate areas, by ZIP code (or by country when that's all there is), never addresses. An act shows on the map only if it has a location: the ZIP you entered on the act, or your profile ZIP when you share your location. You share it when your profile is public or Show me on the kindness map is on.
Making a Splash
Making a Splash celebrates people, groups and pets who spread kindness.
In the app
Tap More, then Making a Splash.
On the website
Go to Making a Splash, also in the footer under Explore.
- Vote: while a round is open, choose a nominee and select Submit Vote!. You can vote once a day (days run midnight to midnight, U.S. Eastern time). You need to be signed in.
- Nominate: under Know someone who is making a splash?, tell us about a person, group or pet, with up to 3 photos if you like (in the app, tap Nominate someone, then Send nomination). Our team reviews every nomination, and some are picked for a future ballot. Nominations are sometimes closed.
- When a round ends, the nominee with the most votes is recognized, and 100 points are added to their ROK profile.
Report or block
See something that breaks the rules, or someone you'd rather not hear from? Tap the three-dot button on a post or comment.
- Report this post (or comment): pick a reason and select Submit report. A moderator reviews it.
- Block a member: you won't see their posts, comments or notifications anywhere in ROK. They aren't told.
To unblock someone, go to Account & settings, find Blocked members and choose Unblock. That list appears once you've blocked someone.
Your account and deleting it
In the app
Tap More, then Account & settings. To sign out, tap Sign out at the bottom of More. To delete your account, scroll to the bottom of Account & settings, tap Delete account, then Delete.
On the website
Select your photo in the top-right corner, then Account & settings. Log out is in the same menu. To delete your account, select Delete my account in Account & settings. On the next page, type DELETE and select Delete my account permanently.
Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, your @handle, your acts and your personal data. It can't be undone. Can't sign in? Email ROK@KindnessWorldwide.org from your account's email address. The delete account page has the details.
Tip: Need a break instead? Turn off Public profile so you appear only by your @handle, or turn off Show me on the leaderboard.
