Post an act of kindness

Record what you did, add photos or a short video, blur faces if you need to, and share your act so it can ripple outward.

Each act of kindness you record is called a ROK. Post real things you did, told honestly. That's the Do No Harm promise every member makes.

In the app

Tap Record, the round button in the middle of the tab bar. You'll see Record an act.

On the website

Select Record Act in the top bar. On a phone browser, tap Record in the bar at the bottom. Or go straight to Record a ROK.

Fill in the details

  • Category: pick the one that fits best, like Education, Community, Environment or Animals. If nothing fits, pick Other and suggest a name.
  • What did you do?: describe your act in a few sentences. Be specific. This part is required.
  • Location (optional): your country and ZIP or postal code. It places the act on the Kindness map by approximate area, never your exact address.
  • Photos and video (optional): see the next section.
  • A link to a social post (optional): paste an Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn or X post.

Good to know: If your profile is public or Show me on the kindness map is on, the location is filled in from your profile. You can change it. If you clear it, ROK still uses your profile ZIP for the map.

In the app

When you're ready, tap Post act of kindness.

On the website

When you're ready, select Submit ROK.

Add photos or a video

You can add up to 3 photos and one video.

In the app

Tap Add photos to choose from your library. For a video, use Choose video or Record video under Video (optional). If you don't see the video buttons, update the app, or post your video from the website.

On the website

Select Add photo to choose pictures. For a video, select the Video box to pick a clip. On a device with a camera, or take one now and or record one now open your camera.

  • Videos can be up to 60 seconds. If your clip is longer, only the first 60 seconds are posted, and you'll see a note saying so. To post a different part, trim the clip first.
  • Your video is prepared on your device before it uploads, which can take a minute. Keep ROK open, with the screen on, until it finishes.

Blur faces before you post

Please protect people's privacy, especially children's. Every photo you add has a Blur button.

  1. Step 1: Tap Blur on the photo.
  2. Step 2: Tap each face you want to hide. A blurred circle appears over it.
  3. Step 3: Drag a circle to move it. Use the Size slider to make it bigger or smaller.
  4. Step 4: Hold Compare to peek at the original. Undo and Clear take circles away.
  5. Step 5: Tap Use this photo when you're done.

The blur happens on your device, so the unblurred photo is never uploaded.

Good to know: You can't change photos after you post. If you forget to blur a face, delete the post and record it again.

If you're in a group

Members of a group see one more switch: Count this toward your groups (or Count this toward plus the group's name, if you're in just one). It starts on and adds your act to your groups' impact. Turn it off to keep an act personal. You can't change this after posting.

Your group may also set up its own acts. They appear as cards above the category list. You always earn 10 points, whichever you pick.

What happens next

Your act goes live right away. There's no waiting for approval. You'll see ROK Recorded! and the 10 points you earned.

Share this ROK gives you a link (Share invite) and a QR code (Show QR) for this act. Anyone who joins from them is marked as inspired by this exact act, so they become part of your ripple. Then choose View your ROK or Record Another ROK.

This screen also lets you link a printed kindness card to the act. Invite friends and share kindness explains how.

Good to know: Sometimes an automatic check flags a post for a moderator to look at. If that happens, you'll see a note. The post stays up and you keep your points unless a person decides it breaks the community guidelines.

Edit or delete your act

Open your act: tap it in the feed, or find it under Your recent ROKs on your You page (your dashboard on the website). Below it are Edit and Delete. Only you see them.

  • Edit changes the category, description, social link and location. Then select Save changes.
  • Photos and video can't be edited. To swap them, delete the post and record it again.
  • Delete removes the post and takes back the points it earned, for you and for the people who inspired you. You can't undo it yourself.
