Points, ripples and your Ripple Pond

How points follow your chain reaction of kindness, and where to see your pond, tier, badges, titles and place on the leaderboard.

How points work

One act of kindness can start a chain reaction. Points follow that chain.

  • 10 points for every act you record.
  • 5 points each time someone you inspired directly records an act.
  • 1 point each time anyone further down your chain records an act: the people they inspired, the people those people inspired, and so on.

Here's an example. You invite Sam, and Sam invites Lee. When Lee posts an act, Lee gets 10, Sam gets 5 and you get 1. When Sam posts, Sam gets 10 and you get 5.

Good to know: Points are a way to see your impact. They can't be traded or exchanged for anything. If an act is deleted or removed, the points it earned come back off.

Who's in your ripple

Someone joins your ripple when they create their account from something you shared:

  • your invite link or QR code,
  • one of your printed kindness cards,
  • a link to one of your acts.

Did you inspire someone who signed up without your link? They can add you once from their own Account & settings. When they do, you also get the points for the acts they already posted. Invite friends and share kindness shows how.

Your Ripple Pond

Your Ripple Pond is a picture of your chain reaction. You're in the middle. Around you are the people you inspired, then the people they inspired, one generation at a time.

In the app

Tap Pond in the tab bar.

On the website

Select Ripple Pond in the top bar (Pond in the bottom bar on a phone), or go to your Ripple Pond.

  • View changes the picture: 360, Cascade, Ripple or Constellation.
  • Reach sets how many generations you see.
  • The numbers at the top count the People and generations in view, plus your Points.

Members with a private profile show as "Member" in your pond. To let others open your pond, turn on Public Ripple Pond in Account & settings.

See your points

In the app

Tap You.

On the website

Select your photo in the top-right corner, then Dashboard. On a phone browser, tap You at the bottom. Or go to your dashboard.

Under Your impact you'll find your total points, your tier, and four numbers: Points from your ROKs, Points from your network, People inspired and Generations deep.

Tiers

As your points grow, you move up through the tiers:

  • Member: where everyone starts
  • ROK Climber: 100 points
  • ROK Hero: 500 points
  • ROK Star: 1,000 points
  • ROK Champion: 2,000 points

Your tier shows on your public profile and next to your name on the leaderboard. You'll get a notification when you reach a new one. To see the whole ladder, open Tier ladder & recognition under Badges & tiers on your You page.

Badges and titles

Badges celebrate milestones. They light up on their own, so there's nothing to claim. A few of them:

  • First Ripple: your first act. Then Ten Acts, Fifty Acts and A Hundred Acts.
  • Well-Rounded: acts in five different categories.
  • Storyteller: photos on five of your acts.
  • Chain Starter: someone joined ROK because of you.
  • Ripple of Ten and Ripple of Fifty: that many people in your ripple.
  • Showed Up: you attended a volunteer event through ROK.

See them all, and what's next, under Badges & tiers → All badges & what's next on your You page. Your badges also show on your public profile.

Many badges come with a title, like "the Spark" for Chain Starter. Reaching a tier gives you its name as a title too. To wear one after your name, open Account & settings, choose it under Title, and select Save changes.

The leaderboard

In the app

Tap More, then Leaderboard.

On the website

Select Leaderboard in the top bar, or go to the Kindness Leaderboard. On a phone browser, it's in the menu under your photo.

The board ranks members by points. You can switch between all time, today, this month, this quarter and this year. During a challenge such as Kindness Week Worldwide, you can open that challenge's board too. If you're not in the list, you'll still see where you stand.

Good to know: Rather not be listed? Turn off Show me on the leaderboard in Account & settings. You'll keep earning points. If Public profile is off, you're listed by your @handle instead of your name.

Questions

My points went up, but I didn't post. Why?
Someone in your ripple recorded an act. You get 5 points when a person you inspired posts, and 1 point when anyone further down the chain does.
Do group acts earn me more?
You always earn 10 points for an act. Some groups give their own acts a bigger value, but that counts only toward the group's goal, not your score.
Is there any other way to get points?
One: in Making a Splash, the nominee with the most votes in a round is recognized, and 100 points are added to their profile.
